The Active Learning Element (we should never utter the acronym A.L.E.) is the smallest indivisible component of every SafetySkills deployment. I got that definition from the definition of the atom, the smallest indivisible component of matter. As different atoms are combined to make an infinite erray of molecules, ALEs are combined in different combinations and permutations to create an infinite number of training "courses."
Every ALE has many (sub-atomic) "parts":
1) a defined competency for which it is purposed;
2) defined Terminal Learning Objectives (TLO);
3) defined Enabling Learning Objecives for each TLO;
4) engaging, dynamic learning content to achieve learning objectives (Competence);
5) a database of regulatory, business-case, and best management practices references associated with the learning content (LiveUpdate); and
6) a validation component to verify meeting the defined competency.
