The SafetySkills™ Concept

"SafetySkills has reinvented the way employees learn, practice, and retain critical EHS skills" is compelling and on the money. How do we do it you ask? Well I think we cans say through and approach that involves four fundamental "discriptors": Substance - Relevance - Competence and - Compliance. By utilizing our subsantive knowledge base; our methodology for targeting relevant Active Learning Elements to specific environmental, health and safety (EHS) risks, by leveraging the latest technologies in digital media to achieve competency; and ultimately ensuring compliance through systematic validation, any organization can deploy a best-in-class EHS competency managment system.

To that end, I think it is even more important to be able to effectively and quickly be able to convey what we have and why it is so unique to the market place. The elevator speech is something we have constantly been toying with to convey exactly what it is and here is what I am using when talking with prospects. I think it is important even on a basic level that all of us be able to communicate this:

We have developed a proprietary drill down selection process that allows the learner to be able to only select the relevant pieces of any given topic. It ensures no missing content and no irrelevant content is present and because we have built an entire data base holding all of these uniquie pieces of information , we can easily repurpose the arrangement of them at a very affordable price. It truly is customized for the learner in a way that has never been offered before.

The number one priority and point to make is that Saftey Skills is an integral part of keeping the worker safe at the workplace. That's the main goal in all this, keeping the worker safe. However, it also meets both general and specific OSHA training requirements and Safety Skills would also provide documentation for the client to provide 'proof' that the employee is knowledgable to perform their job safely. This is done by confirming through questions or interactive exercises, within Safety Skills, that the employee is in fact competent on the information given.

This is not easy for an employer (client) to accomplish, but by using Safety Skills and providing only information to the worker that is most relevant to them and performing their task(s) safely, the employer (client) is much closer to suceeding at all three: keeping the worker safe, meeting the OSHA training requirements, and reducing their liability.

An example would be, a worker that must wear a respirator to perform their job safely. It would be much more effective to train them on the right way to put that respirator on and how to make sure there is a good seal verses training them that OSHA has a regulation in 29 CFR 1910.blah blah blah says the employer must provide respiratory protection for all employees exposed to inhalation hazards and must have a written program for that and must blah, blah, blah. I hope you get my point. Safety Skills arms the worker with the knowledge they need to stay safe on the job. Period.
